Fall draws near and I am eagerly anticipating the experience in our new home because we’ve got trees that will soon be clothed with fiery reddish-orange colors and because a harvest of apples awaits us! The San Diego mountains are home to a quaint little community once known as a mining town. Now, what’s left is a tourism town. One of the main things people come for up here is the apple pie because it’s the closest place around that gets enough snow and chill to produce some really delightful, fresh apples. And we’ve got some of our very own, nearly famous (to San Diegans that is) apples!
As I consider the harvest that awaits us, it turns my thoughts to a harvest of a spiritual nature. It spurs me on to pray for the ultimate harvest of those who have yet to begin a relationship with Christ. And more personally, to what the Lord will harvest from and in me.
Our hearts are valuable real estate. The Lord has beautiful desires to harvest the fruit of His Spirit from our lives. Yet a lot of things get in between us and that harvest of heart we were meant for.
In the coming weeks we will be sharing a few excerpts from the study Free to Flourish: Cultivating the Fruit of the Spirit. We hope you will join us!
