I love women’s ministry events! They’re pretty! They’re happy! And they usually involve chocolate 🙂
At every event I coordinate, I make sure I am communicating Christ’s love to each woman as she walks in the door. I use the concept of the five love languages to cover the bases.
- Love through physical touch – Have someone there to greet her with a hug (or handshake) and a sincere welcome.
- Love through quality time – Plan for the event to include quality fellowship time, an opportunity for your sisters to be prayed over and for meaningful connection to occur.
- Love through acts of service – Be well prepared for your ladies. Set the room ambiance with soft lighting, comfortable seating, snacks, background music or whatever your vision for the event requires.
- Love through words of encouragement – The speaker should obviously deliver a message of encouragement. But you can also make sure your ladies go home with an extra dose of encouragement. If your event is hosted around those large round tables, be sure to seat a leader at each table who understands her role as a key part in the event. Tell her to look for something encouraging to share or say to each guest at her table. When I plan events that I also teach at, I often plan a short break in my talk for the table hostesses to share a brief testimony on the subject hand. I also follow-up with table discussion questions. Also, send the women home with a written word of encouragement whether it be a Bible verse on a magnet or bookmark or with a devotional to read later!
- Love through giving gifts – Lastly, have door prizes and/or table favors for each person in attendance.
If you run through these things, your event will speak love through the five love languages:
1. touch
2. quality time
3. acts of service
4. words of encouragement and
5. gifts.
Your women will be sure to leave this event feeling God’s love in a tangible way!
